How do I break my quest into Milestones and Tasks?
Your 55-day quest has five heroic milestones—checkpoints along your journey up your personal Mountain. If you completed the Guided Setup, your milestones are defined, but you may need to break them down into slayable tasks. Let’s walk through how!
If you haven’t started your quest, head to Start Here for step-by-step guidance.
Step 1: Refine your next Milestone
Instead of mapping out all of your milestones at the start of your quest, just break down ONE milestone at a time. Keep it simple!
1️⃣ Start with your current/next milestone. 2️⃣ Open its card in My Forge. 3️⃣ Add ideas to the Description field—just brain-dump whatever comes to mind. It doesn’t have to be perfect! 4️⃣ Imagine what “done” might look like. What might need to happen for this milestone to be fully slayed?
📌 Lean on Ask Ember 🔥 for ideas:
1️⃣ Click Update in the Ask Ember 🔥 field of your milestone card. 2️⃣ Review the suggested task breakdowns. 3️⃣ Copy any useful insights back into the description field of your milestone.
🦄 Hot Tip: Your writing doesn’t need to be polished—just get your thoughts down. Planning is an iterative process, and you’ll refine as you go.
Step 2: Break your Milestone into Tasks
Once you’re clear on what ‘done’ looks like for a milestone, let’s break it into slayable tasks!…
How to quickly add in My Forge:
✔ Jump to Board view or Detail view in My Forge. ✔ Keep your milestone card open in a separate tab so you can reference it while adding tasks.
From the Board view:
✔ Hover over the Not started column heading and click the plus (+) sign button to add new tasks. ✔ Add each milestone task, one by one.

Or from the Detail view:
✔ Open the Not started grouping.
✔ Click the plus (+) sign next to the Not started heading to add new tasks.

Step 3: Prioritize your tasks for heroic focus
Once you’ve added tasks, assign priorities to each one to plan like a pro. I suggest prioritizing your tasks for each coming week when you do your weekly reflections.
Here’s what the Priority labels mean:
✔ Slay First → Your most important task(s) (these move you closer to your milestone). ✔ Slay Later → Meaningful, but not as important, tasks to slay after your Slay First tasks. ✔ Summon Allies → Tasks that might be better to delegate instead of doing yourself. ✔ Vanquish → Is a task no longer a priority? Change its priority to Vanquish to hide it.
Limit your work in progress to keep your focus sharp!
✔ Move only one task to In Progress at a time to stay focused. ✔ If you need to set a task down, move it back to Not Started instead of letting too many tasks pile up in In Progress.
🦄 Hot Tip: Use the Detail view in My Forge to quickly add and prioritize tasks when you break down a milestone.
Keep it simple—just plan one Milestone at a time. I personally plan my milestones as I transition from one milestone to the next.
✔ Your quest will evolve—allow flexibility for new insights and opportunities. ✔ Use Weekly Reflections to refine your plan based on what you’ve learned. ✔ Enjoy the process—some of the best surprises emerge along the way!
🦄 Hot Tip: Overplanning leads to overwhelm. Focus on slaying your next milestone, and trust that clarity will come as you progress.
