speak fluent saga
Main Character Saga has its own language — Mountains, Quests, Questies, Hero Points. Here's what every term means in plain English. New here? Start with how the system works.
the climb
- Mountain
- Your one big goal for the season — the summit you choose to climb. MCS has you focus on a single Mountain at a time instead of scattering across a dozen goals at once.
- Quest
- A focused 55-day push toward one Mountain. Long enough to make real progress, short enough to keep the finish line in view — about six quests fit in a year.
- Questie
- A focused 55-minute work cycle, the atomic unit of progress. 'Every Mountain is climbed one Questie at a time.' Work one Slay First task for 55 minutes, then take a real 5–10 minute break.
- Slay Day
- Any day you dedicate to working your quest. Aim for at least three a week; a few focused hours each adds up to roughly 70 hours over a 55-day quest.
- Slay First
- Your most important task — the one that moves you closest to your Mountain. Always start your Slay Days here.
- Weekly Victory
- A single goal you set for the coming week to focus your energy. Give it a number, then aim for progress over perfection. Any win is a win.
your system (the Vision Portal)
- Vision Portal
- The one page you open every day to keep your Mountain in focus and slay your days. It's organized into four modules: My Mountain, My Energizers, My Forge, and My Launchpad.
- My Mountain
- A bird's-eye view of your current 55-day quest — your Heroic Quest Statement, your milestones, and how many days are left to reach them. Start each day here.
- My Energizers
- Where you plan your weeks and days, reflect on progress, and track your W's (wins). It has a weekly section (Craft Your Week) and a daily one for powering up your Slay Days.
- My Forge
- Your quest calendar and get-stuff-done system in one — your base camp. See your work as a calendar, a board (Kanban), a timeline, or a tidy detail list.
- My Launchpad
- Your guided setup when you begin, and where you wrap a finished quest and choose your next Mountain.
showing up
- Hero Points (HP)
- Points you earn for every win — completing tasks and milestones, slaying Questies, and logging Energizers. Watching them stack is the point; they live in your My W's dashboard.
- Energizers
- The small things that power you up — rest, hydration, reading, movement. Smash a button to log the ones you did, and don't overthink them.
- Heroic Quest Statement (HQS)
- Your one-line anthem for this season: who you're becoming and why it matters. Read it aloud daily; the system keeps it in front of you on every task.
- Guiding Truths
- Your core values — your North Star — uncovered during the guided setup. The whole quest is built around them.
- Muses
- Eight archetypal guides, ranked by how strongly they align with your Guiding Truths. Revisit them for inspiration and reflection prompts.
- Spark Catcher
- A second brain for your ideas. When inspiration strikes mid-task, capture the spark in a bucket and get back to work — refine it later, so a good idea never derails your focus.
- Dream Board
- Where you collect images and notes of the life you're building. The more real it feels, the harder you climb.
- Vibe Check
- A quick read on how you feel about a task, tracked in My W's. Fear or discomfort often just means you're stretching.
- Ask Ember
- The AI guide (on paid Notion plans) that helps break milestones into slayable tasks and elevate your sparks.
- My W's
- Your wins dashboard — Hero Points, completed Questies and Energizers, and your tracked vibes, all in one place.
the vibe
- Main Character Energy
- Living by design instead of default — being the lead in your own story rather than an extra in someone else's.
- Founding Hero
- Recognition for the first wave of people who pick up Main Character Saga.
